Challenging our problem-solving skills to accept failure
FUNDS COLLECTION FOR EDHI FOUNDATION
Following the unfortunate demise of Edhi sb, his wife Bilquis Edhi and son Faisal Edhi continue to serve humanity through the services of the Edhi foundation. The legacy of the Edhi foundation lives in the form of numerous humanitarian projects run by the Edhi foundation. However, the flow of funds has plummeted in recent years due to the lesser amount of donations. Therefore, this donation drive is our chance to give something back to the Edhi foundation and play our part in maintaining the legacy of Edhi Sb.
The primary task of the project is to collect donations for the Edhi Foundation from those who are willing to donate. Those who want to can continue to donate by 21 January 2021. With the efforts of our group, a small amount of money was collected this week. Students, workers, and businessmen contribute to this project.
Abdullah, Farhan, Nasrullah, Aneela, Sadia, and I participated to achieve our target. We created a poster to upload on our social media platforms because this is the most convenient and easy way to ask for donations. Through this even Rs.50 contributed by a single person plays a significant part when combined together.
We collected funds as a group on social media and individually too. Some of us have never really taken part in fundraising activity before because they found it out of our comfort zone. We personally contacted and asked people to further ask their social circles to donate. We also contacted a few influencers to spread our message to maximize our reach. When we performed this fund collection activity we felt that we were playing our part in making an impact on society.
We got permission to place donation boxes at some places to collect funds. We targeted those places where there are enough hustle and bustle of people like bakeries, grocery stores, pharmacies, and barbershops.
The challenges were that people saw the message and then didn’t respond. We then contacted different people individually and as a result a few people finally responded positively after hours of talking to many people. Some other people have several trust issues about whether the money would be at the Edhi Foundation or not. We communicated politely by showing a permission letter. When we explained the cause, a few steps forward and appreciated our effort and supported us.
This experience taught us that a lot of times we can bring change but we are not able to do it because we don’t want to get out of our comfort zone. It takes a slight nudge in the right direction to help people in need. We learned a great deal about human behavior and how they react to things that don’t concern them. Failure is not an option. You fail when you stop trying and accept that you have lost. Keep trying and stay motivated.
